What Not To Wear?

What is all the whispering about I asked as I entered the café. “She’s wearing last seasons hand bag and boots!” So, what’s the big deal if she is, better yet, who says you can’t wear “last seasons” fashions?
Well, maybe I was absent the day this memo went out, but my budget says I will definitely be sporting last year’s digs, and maybe even a few from the year before. Really, I have no idea when this phenomenon became literal, but I refuse to indulge. I can, and will wear clothes from 3 seasons ago and look absolutely fabulous in them! if I must say so myself. And so can you. Here are a few tips for camouflaging your favorite pieces from fashions past.
1. Mix and match pieces from previous seasons with your hot, new “in style” pieces from this season. And don’t be afraid to throw in some bold colors as well.
2. Don’t throw out your favorite pieces just because so-and-so said it’s out of style. It’s perfectly all right to wear whatever you like!
3. Buy quality rather than quantity. Really, because quality last, but quantity will merely equal clutter; and you all know what I’m talking about.
4. Only make new purchases if you absolutely LOVE IT.
5. When you make a purchase get rid of something within the same category, this way your arsenal will always be on top of it’s fashion game.
Your clothing is an expression of your personality and you should feel beautiful and confident even when you’re dressed down. And, by all means ACCESSORIZE, ACCESSORIZE, ACCESSORIZE. I know a lot of women are uncertain about how to accessorize, well, here’s the trick. Wear whatever you like! You are the stylist of YOU! Have fun with accessories, and don’t worry about being coordinated either. Actually, accessories should pop and make a statement about how you’re feeling at that moment. And please, for the love of chocolate, wear only ONE focal point at a time. Be bold and daring with jumbo earrings, bangles, eye shadow, lip gloss, flashy shoes, belts, necklaces, rings etc. (But not simultaneously).
Whatever you feel like wearing, wear it and sport it with CONFIDENCE! Yes, confidence is definitely the key to pulling off any and everything. Are you ready? Heads up, stomachs sucked in (don’t pass out though), shoulders back, lips shiny (always gotta have those shiny lips.) Now, let’s go get’em… “In last seasons fashions.” Fabulous!

SHOP CONSIGNMENT!!! If you can find a good consignment shop in a wealthy area, you will find the lowest cost designer deals around! I got a Fendi coat with fur sleeves for $500! Regular $4500!! My girl got a Louis Vuitton bag, still at Louis, looked like it had been worn twice for $400, regular $1750!!!
It’s best to look in wealthy areas where people wear things once and get rid of them. My favorite consignment shop in New York City is Designer Resale on 81st between 1st and 2nd avenue!

I agree! Along with consignment… if that’s still out of your budget, why not try the Thrift stores? I absolutly LOVE thrifting. I swear by it. But, choose wisely. It may be uber cheap, but make sure you plan to wear it before you but it. Otherwise, you will be just wasting space. Also, always wash before wearing. I’m just say’n…

I totally agree with you, thrift-consignment shopping is an excellent way to find designer/vintage pieces at bargain prices -one of a kind items you won’t see anyone else with. If you have an eye for fashion you can really amass quite the wardrobe for pennies!
